Many years ago, I heard about infra red saunas supposed health benefits. At that point in my life I lived in Oklahoma and thought, “why pay for what I can just walk outside and get for free?”
Fast forward a few years and the holisic dental clinic concierge is scheduling me time in the sauna post amalgam removal. I didn't sweat, had a horrid headache, thought I might die.
Someone told me its probably my adrenals so I became an avid YL Nutmeg oil user - over my kidneys/adrenals and swiped inside my cheeks and inhaled deeply. Months later, dental clinic time again, and this time? Sweat beaded up and dripped down my abdomen! I won’t forget how excited I was at this sign of health returning to my body!
Over the years when not able to lay outside in warm weather sauna time is one of our favorite health practices! Michael loves the steam sauna at the gym and we have thoroughly enjoyed a dry sauna at our home. We seek out healing mineral water spas wherever we travel.
Last month, our Latvian massage therapist friend hostess and Raindrop Harmonics student and voice healer booked us the best sauna experience ever!
She knew a Latvian sauna master couple and booked us a 6 hour session! Now you might think why six hours? Well, unlike when you just go to a gym sauna for 20-35 minutes The sauna master leads and guides you through a sequence of sauna, bodyscrub, cold plunge, sauna, honey massage, cold plunge, sauna, branch tapotemant, final cold plunge! Absolutely amazing! Sauna combined with three different bodywork sessions and cold plunges?!
On their beautiful country property this couple built a smaller sauna with a resting room and shower room, then another larger sauna for larger groups. They teach a six month course one weekend a month to help other learn to facilitate sauna experiences. They are gardeners as well and she uses their herbs in her body scrub and in the sauna. They make the small branch brooms from their trees. These are soaked in water before being used for tapotement massage. Somehow the experience is like an emotional cleansing as well as physical detox and renewal, a re-birthing or feeling so new. At 59 years, who wouldn't want to feel new again?
